Weather was a big factor in The Courageous Steps Project’s 1st annual Charity Kickball Fun-Day. Earlier in the day, steady showers threatened the event. Luckily, the moving the event to the afternoon ensured avoiding rain drops, and allowed for pleasant sunshine.
“We made this change earlier in the day at around 5:30am" said founder & CEO Connor Archer. “It is our duty as an organization to ensure that everyone is safe at our events” added Archer.
The teams still came out and played despite the last minute change, and had quite the fun experience. “I can’t say enough how great this is for my son to see events like this” said one of the team organizers. This was one of the many statements that trickled in throughout the event. Even some spectators came out to witness the fun action.
All team participants and spectators were treated to a cookout afterwards featuring burgers and hotdogs along with whoopee pies. We also had free drawings take place during the event. A free contest also took place for those who were interested.
“Our turnout was decent for the first year, and for a busy weekend” said Archer. “We had many teams that wanted to be formed, but just couldn’t pull it off due to prior commitments. It is our goal to do this on a different weekend to see if we can form more teams” added Archer.
