Fair turnout at the first annual Courageous Steps Back to School Drive

The first annual Courageous Steps Project's Back to School Drive indeed had a fair turnout for a sunny Sunday afternoon at Old Town High School. Founder of the Courageous Steps Project, Connor Archer, was there with his mom/assistant collecting supplies for RSU #34 Schools (serving the towns of Alton, Bradley and Old Town) and the Lewis Libby School in Milford. Many came out to show their support for RSU #34 schools and the Lewis Libby School, even after Thursday's Stuff the Bus drive hosted by the Old Town McDonalds and RSU #34 school board member Lee Jackson. Connor Archer did assist Lee at this fundraiser. "I never thought that it would be possible to fill a whole school bus, and I am still surprised today at how successful Lee was able to organize such a successful fundraiser.

Jackson did assist Connor in advertising for Sunday's back to school drive at Old Town High School. "Even if the turnout isn't as great, it pays off knowing that I helped our students succeed in life, which is the Courageous Steps Project ultimate mission." Archer was again interviewed by a local tv station.

Later in September, Archer is doing a fundraiser at Governor's Restaurant in Old Town to benefit the Courageous Steps Project Scholarship Fund.

If you are still looking at donating to the Back to School Drive, please send your donation to Old Town High School at: 203 Stillwater Avenue, Old Town, ME 04468. All proceeds will help purchase supplies for RSU #34 schools. If you are writing a check, please make it out to Old Town High School and write Courageous Steps in the memo.

Donations used to buy more school supplies

After the Courageous Steps Back to School Drive, founder Connor Archer immediately went down to Staples in Bangor, ME, and purchased $30 worth of supplies, which would normally be over $60. The people at Staples were so kind that they gave Archer a discount on some of the school supplies so that way he could get more supplies for the schools. "We bought 50 wide ruled subject notebooks for less than $15, 15 folders for $3, 25 boxes of pencils for about $13, and pencil sharpeners.

Courageous Steps 2015 planning beginning in late 2014, Archer continues expanding Courageous Steps

After almost 4 months when the Courageous Steps 2014 fundraiser was held, we are already starting to plan  the 2nd Annual Courageous Steps fundraiser, held once again, at Victory Field @ Old Town High School. The Courageous Steps Project's founder and owner, Connor Archer says that the fundraiser will be bigger and better than last year. "We are planning so much more with the 2015 Courageous Steps Fundraiser. Expanding our advertising, and our efforts is one of the first steps that I will be continuing to do throughout the fall of 2014."

Archer plans on starting his advertising this fall, as he lets people know about the great efforts with the Courageous Steps Project. He does plan on asking for more sponsors this year than last year. He plans on starting that process in mid-november and continuing it until the beginning of May of 2015, when the Courageous Steps 2015 fundraiser will be held.

Archer hasn't announced a date quite yet for the Courageous Steps fundraiser, but says he will do so later this fall. "I want to choose a date that will bring the best potential for the Courageous Steps fundraiser, and the Courageous Steps Project."

As Archer continues to expand his Courageous Steps efforts, he will be hosting many little fundraisers which will help other areas of the Courageous Steps Project, making all proceeds from the Courageous Steps 2015 fundraiser go to organizations that held young children with special needs.

"Courageous Steps has changed the community, and has influenced so many already. It still overwhelms me to this day that younger kids who are facing the same challenges that I had to face, want to do something like I have done."

This begins another tradition says Archer, who will seek out to these younger children for next year's fundraiser.

If you would like to be a sponsor for next years sponsor, please contact Connor Archer at: [email protected].

The Courageous Steps Project Update

8/9/2014

Recently, The Courageous Steps Project has counted up the registration forms from the first fundraiser held by the Courageous Steps Project. So successful, that we had over 100 registration forms, and many other donations from all across the State of Maine. Your generous donation, has allowed 2 very important programs in our area, to purchase that one necessary item, to help that individual learn the specific skills.

With donations from local businesses too, the Courageous Steps Project, has evolved into something that will continue for the years to come.

This summer, the Courageous Steps Project, has re-painted the Green House Nursery School front entrance, and has re-vamped some of the gardens, which will continue through next year. The Courageous Steps Project will be beginning the process of technology upgrades beginning in 2015, due to the funds.

Coming up in the end of August, will be the Courageous Steps Project Back to School Drive.
The Courageous Steps Project will be hosting this fundraiser on Sunday August 24, 2014 at Old Town High School.
