The Courageous Steps Project will be hosting its’ 4th annual back-to-school drive at Governor’s Restaurant locations in Ellsworth and Old Town. The Ellsworth location will be open from 9:00am-5:00pm, while the Old Town location will be open until 6:00pm.

We will be collecting supplies from notebooks, crayons, backpacks, lunch boxes, even tissues and clorox wipes. All supplies donated will help support schools in Hancock and Penobscot counties.

“We are more prepared than ever for this drive coming up” said founder & CEO Connor Archer. “We are prepared at both locations to take lots of supplies for schools in both regions. Based on the conversations on social media, we should have a good day” added Archer.

Ice cream cones will also be sold at $1.99 at both locations the entire day. All proceeds from that will also benefit the drive.

A raffle will take place as well at both locations. Raffle items will be announced on Monday July 31st on our Facebook page.

If you cannot make it to the drive, you are encouraged to drop off supplies at one of our many bin locations throughout the region. We have bins in Bangor, Ellsworth, Milford, Old Town, and Orono. We also have monetary bins scattered around the area. Find a full list of those on our back-to-school drive page, under the fundraisers tab.

You can also donate by sending a donation to:

The Courageous Steps Project, P.O. Box 1, Stillwater, ME 04489

For some, summer is a time to escape the daily routine of teaching or learning. For others, it’s a chance prepare even more for the upcoming school year.

The Courageous Steps Project is exactly taking that necessary step to help schools prepare for the next school year. On Wednesday August 2nd, join us at Governor’s Restaurant locations in Ellsworth and Old Town, for our 4th annual back-to-school drive.

All proceeds from the drive will benefit schools in Penobscot and Hancock counties.

The drive will take place from 9:00am to 5:00pm in Ellsworth. Our Old Town location will be open until 6:00pm that day. Stop by at anytime during those hours to donate your school supplies or to make a monetary donation to be used to purchase more supplies that were not donated as much prior to the drive.

“This continues to be a huge event for us” says founder & CEO Connor Archer. “With our newly-formed non-profit umbrella, we can grow and expand this event into a region-wide campaign” added Archer.

Bins will be released on Monday July 17th at Bangor Savings Bank locations in Old Town and Orono, Penobscot County Federal Credit Union locations in Bangor and Old Town, Horizon Solutions LLC in Bangor, the Green House Nursery School in Milford, and Governor’s Restaurant in Old Town. Other locations may be added.

Monetary donations as of Sunday July 9th, will be collected at Horizon Solutions LLC as well.

To learn more about how you can get involved, please visit our back-to-school drive page under the fundraisers section of our website. If you are an educator or an administrator of a school in Penobscot and Hancock counties, you can go online and fill out our application. This will not only guarantee your school to receive supplies, but also will give you a chance to tell us what your school needs for supplies.
